History

Aside from collecting fights on dvd, I also collect fighters autographs. I respect any and every man who has laced the gloves up and stepped into the ring and if a person has, I try ask for his autograph. I've been lucky enough to have met a handful of fighters during my trips to the fights and each has a unique story to the meeting, from getting a autograph from Kassim Ouma and inadvertently joining him in the spotlight during an announcement of his attendance to being snubbed by the great Roberto Duran, only to have him sign for the two ring girls behind me (guess you can't really blame the guy). I try to promote the local fighters in the area to the best of my ability and I've also picked up a few memorabilia items along the way.

My Background

I was introduced to the fight game as a kid, when our family watched Ray 'Boom-Boom' Mancini knockout Deuk-Koo Kim in November of '82. Kim passed away a few days later due to his injuries and as a result championship fights were reduced from 15 to 12 rounds (WBC Title fights). During those years, Sugar Ray Leonard was the biggest athlete around and Ali was still fresh in the public's memories. Combine that with my dad and uncle who enjoyed the fights, and I became a fan. However, baseball was still my first love and I would much rather watch a Yankee game than a boxing match. It wasnt until high school that I really started diving into the sport headfirst, with Oscar De La Hoya and my countryman Tito Trinidad exploding on the scene. Tyson was doing time and there were hopes of him being released and getting back into the game. After joining a local boxing gym and meeting fighter Gil 'Sugar' Reyes, I attended my first live fights and suddenly became a regular ringside. I've studied on the history of the sport and collected as many fights as I can afford and taped as many as I can. I've been blessed with a father who shares a bit of my passion, a mother who smiles at my hobby and a fiance who is loving, patient and supportive of what I do. This has allowed me to enjoy it more than most 'responsible' adults are able to.
